About Us
NIULPE Illinois is a not-for-profit organization, Incorporated within the State of Illinois, which acts to establish standards for firemen, water-tenders, engineers, operators, examiners and instructors within the Power Engineering Industry. NIULPE Illinois also accredits courses taught in Power Engineering Technology.
The goal of the NIULPE Illinois Board is to establish a standard level of competence for Power Engineers within the State of Illinois that is attainable and fairly measured. NIULPE Illinois promotes both safety and education of power engineers and the general public.
NIULPE Illinois administers examinations to Power Engineers and individuals aspiring to enter the profession of Power Engineers that endeavor to certify the competency level of the test taker. NIULPE License grades include: 4th, Class, 3rd Class, 2nd Class, 1st Class and Chief Engineer. In addition, examinations are also provided for candidates seeking commissions as Instructors and Examiners.
NIULPE also provides temporary licensing to trainees and grants reciprocity to individuals holding municipal licenses with the State of Illinois and other surrounding areas.
